About This Event
The cook-off began in Kinsale in 2011 as the National Chowder Cook-Off and grew into a national contest. Professional kitchens from many counties compete, and visitors buy a voting card that lets them taste every entry. It was held on the grounds of Acton's Hotel and later sat inside a wider weekend of food stalls on the town streets. Kinsale is twinned with Newport, Rhode Island, and in some years the winner was offered a trip there.
