About This Event
Opishnia in Poltava region is Ukraine's pottery town, so its borscht festival is about cooking in clay. Dozens of borscht varieties are prepared in clay pots, with vegetables, mushrooms, beans, fish or meat, and the day is run as a quest from stop to stop. It is organised by the ethnologist and ceramics researcher Olena Shcherban on her homestead.
