About This Event
Saratoga Chowderfest closes downtown streets for an afternoon of chowder tasting in the middle of the New York winter. Local restaurants, bars, cafes and even non-food shops set up tables and serve small cups for a couple of dollars each. Visitors vote for their favourite, and winners are named in categories based on how many bowls each vendor serves, so small neighbourhood places compete on equal terms with the big crowd-pullers. Expect cold weather, long but friendly queues and chowders that go far beyond the classic New England style.

Discover Saratoga reported 85 vendors, 116,383 bowls of chowder served and more than 40,000 attendees, the largest crowd the Saratoga Springs Police Department had seen at the festival. Winners were announced at the Heritage Area Visitor Center.
