About This Event
Ramen EXPO has been held at the Festival Plaza of Expo '70 Commemorative Park in Suita, Osaka, since 2013. Each weekend ('act') brings about ten different shops, chosen from all over Japan, so no two weekends serve the same bowls. You buy ramen tickets at the entrance and hand them over at each stall; visitors vote for a favourite and a Grand Prix is announced for each act. Gyoza stalls, stage shows and the park's winter illuminations run alongside. Park entry is charged separately.

The first Ramen EXPO, billed as the first time nationwide regional ramen gathered in Osaka. Act 1 ran 12-15 December with 15 shops; act 2 ran 20-25 December, 10 days in all. Travel News later reported about 150,000 visitors and 120,000 bowls sold, with Tokyo's Menya Sou selling over 10,000 bowls. A Livedoor news item dated 10 December 2013 announced the opening for 12 December; a blogger visited on opening day, 12 December. The official site's own 'since 2013' wording and its numbering (2026 is the 12th) confirm 2013 as the start.
