About This Event
Running since 1982, the cook-off raises money for the city's youth programmes. Visitors buy a tasting kit with tickets and a People's Choice ballot, then wander the entries. It takes place on the Beach Boardwalk in late February.

The 42nd annual event, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2023; entry fee $75 per team. Judges included Santa Cruz Mayor Fred Keeley and Congressman Jimmy Panetta. Awards included People's Choice, Most Tasted and Best Theme; in the amateur booth-theme prize Clamstock (a Woodstock parody) beat The Silence of the Clams. Rain on Sunday thinned the professional-day crowd. Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation reported raising over $85,000.
