About This Event
Running since 1982, the cook-off raises money for the city's youth programmes. Visitors buy a tasting kit with tickets and a People's Choice ballot, then wander the entries. It takes place on the Beach Boardwalk in late February.

Confirmed: the 46th annual Clam Chowder Cook-Off is set for Saturday 20 (amateur chefs) and Sunday 21 February 2027 at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, rain or shine. Boston and Manhattan chowder both days; visitors vote for a winner each day (Visit Santa Cruz lists 1 to 4 pm). Team entry is $75 for amateurs or professionals. Chef registration and tasting-kit presales are on the Boardwalk page, with details still marked 'coming soon' when checked.
