The 2012 festival, themed 'Taipei Hao Ti Mian', was launched by the mayor on 27 November, who said the festival was in its 8th year and that beef noodles were worth more than NT$1 billion a year to the city. The 'Taipei Hao Ti Mian carnival' took place at Expo Park's Yuanshan area on the weekend of 1 December, after finalists in clear-stewed, red-braised and creative rice classes were photographed with the mayor at the opening.
