About This Event

Vilnius turns pink for a festival built around šaltibarščiai, the chilled beetroot and kefir soup that Lithuanians eat all summer. Restaurants, cafes and bars across the city serve their own versions, and there is a Pink Soup Parade through the Old Town. Started in 2023, it has grown from a one-day event around Tymo Market into a three-day festival. Check the official programme for the venue map and what is on each day.

What's on

On Saturday 1 June 2024, the first day of summer, the second Pink Soup Fest drew about 42,000 people, nearly three times the first year. Its headline was a record attempt: a pink-covered table 362 metres long, laid with the support of the retailer Maxima, where 1,200 guests sat down to eat šaltibarščiai together, setting two Lithuanian records (longest table, most people eating pink soup at once). These are national records, entered in the Lithuanian Records Book 2025, not Guinness World Records. A shared pink-soup table also linked Vilnius with the Polish city of Lublin through the Vilnius-Lublin portal, and a spontaneous music duel between Vilnius and Riga over šaltibarščiai made news abroad. The giant foam slide and the soup bowl for children stayed visitors' favourites. Foreign media reached an estimated audience of more than 425 million, with photos in The Guardian and Reuters picture galleries. Go Vilnius announced the next date, 31 May 2025, the following week.

How to read festival information

We work to keep festival information right, but festivals are run by others and details change. Here is how to read what you see on SoupFestivals.

Confirmed or expected

A confirmed date was announced for that edition. An expected date, such as "usually held around mid-October", is an estimate based on past editions, not an announcement.

Places can be approximate

We show a map pin and directions only when the venue's location is verified. If it is still unconfirmed, we keep the known venue name and town without a pin.

Check before you travel

Dates, prices, menus and venues can change, and festivals can be cancelled. Always confirm with the organizer before you go. If their information differs from ours, theirs is the one to follow.

Help us keep it right
